Lapsang Souchong Butterfly #1
A superior leaf Lapsang Souchong offering a unique smoky crisp character.
This special smoked tea has a robust flavour sometimes referred to as tarry and is a speciality from Fujian province.
Then they are placed in bamboo baskets and hung on wooden racks over smoking pine fires to dry and absorb the smoke flavour. When finished they are thick, glossy black strips, and produce a dark red drink with a unique aroma and taste. It is generally consumed with sugar or milk.
All the best Lapsang is produced in the nature preserve located in the Wuyi Mountains where the high mountains with thick pine forests and heavy mist provide the ideal environment for growing top quality tea. Depending upon one’s palate the taste can be light and intriguing or it can be heavy and overpowering.

I do love brewing a pot of this tea just after the kids have gone to bed. It feels like a real treat. Amazing service, very quick delivery. Thank you!
Our usual Lapsang Souchong supplier in Piccadilly, London was not open due to the lockdown. I searched for other suppliers and found Teacakes of Yorkshire offering an excellent range of teas and easy delivery so I placed an order. The tea arrived in a space saving package which would easily fit through a letterbox.
The fragrance of the tea was subtle and smoky - well-balanced with a long finish. It has now become a firm favourite and I ordered more.
Teacakes service is excellent and the tea is superb.
This is the second time I've bought Lapsagn Souchong tea from this company, and the flavour of the tea has been excellent, and even better my order was placed and delivered the NEXT day. Thank you.
I am a repeat buyer of this product from Yorkshire Tea Cups as I find it has an excellent flavour and quality of leaf. Having grown up in a household where Lapsang Souchong was the only tea on offer, I feel I am in a good position to judge. I have not found any better than this. I drink it every morning and always empty the family sized teapot.
Many years ago, my father used to smoke a pipe. Balkan Sobranie was his favourite and the leathery, oiled hemp-like aroma of this tea reminds me of it. No health risks with Lapsang Souchong of course! Terrific, prompt service from Tea Cakes of Yorkshire and the sample sachet included is a much appreciated touch.
