£2.45

 Good Hope Rooibos

With a soft fruity sweetness, and hints of Malt and Orange, Good Hope is refreshing and packed with health benefits, Grown exclusively on the Western Cape of South Africa in the shadow of the Cederberg mountains, Rooibos in Afrikaans is "red bush."

In Asia, it is known as "long life tea" Many believe it has anti-ageing effects and is taken to soothe the body's reaction to allergies and rashes.

200 ml (about 7 ounces) of brewed Rooibos contains the following nutrients:
Iron (Fe) Essential for transport of oxygen in the blood 0.07 mg
Potassium (K) Assists certain metabolic functions 7.12 mg
Calcium (Ca) Necessary for strong teeth and bones 1.09 mg
Copper (Cu) Assists certain metabolic processes 0.07 mg
Zinc (Zn) Necessary for normal growth and development of healthy skin 0.04 mg
Magnesium (Mg) Assists a healthy nervous system and other metabolic processes 1.57 mg
Manganese (Mn) Assists metabolic processes and bone growth and development 0.04 mg

A Swedish botanist Carl Thunberg first saw the people of the Cape of South Africa make a tasty aromatic drink from the needle-like leaves of the wild plants specifically the Rooibos plant. After harvest the plants were chopped up with axes and then bruised with heavy implements, the leaves would left to ferment before drying in the sun.

Cederburg/South Africa

Rooibos seeds are planted during February and March. They are tended for 18 months, Upon summer harvest the leaves of the plant are trimmed and bruised ready for oxidisation, which much like the fermentation of tea allows the leaves to develop.
A green rooibos with a lighter, drier, flavour can be made from the same plant without undergoing the oxidisation process

With a soft fruity sweetness, and hints of Malt and Orange, Good Hope is refreshing and packed with health benefits, it's a favourite mainstay for the converted and a must for the not-yet-enlightened.

Red Bush tea

I got this to try after having seen Rooibus tea for sale in my local Aldi to see if I would like it. I normally only drink the Earl Grey and therefore found a completely different taste, I should perhaps say I don't use milk or sugar in my tea. I have found that a weaker brew suits me better than the usual teaspoon full and quite like the taste of the Rooibus but do prefer the Earl grey without the health benefits!
