A Swedish botanist Carl Thunberg first saw the people of the Cape of south Africa make a tasty aromatic drink from the needle-like leaves of the wild plants specifically the Rooibos plant. After harvest the plants were chopped up with axes and then bruised with heavy implements, the leaves would left to ferment before drying in the sun.
Rooibos seeds are planted during February and March. They are tended for 18 months, Upon summer harvest the leaves of the plant are trimmed and bruised ready for oxidisation, which much like the fermentation of tea allows the leaves to develop.
A green rooibos with a lighter, drier, flavour can be made from the same plant without undergoing the oxidisation process
With a soft fruity sweetness, hints of Malt and Orange, Good Hope is refreshing and packed with health benefits, it's a favourite mainstay for the converted and a must for the not-yet-enlightened.

As we need deaf tea we often drink Rooibos tea, this is one of the best qualities we have found. Excellent flavour, very clean and refreshing. I will order again
It's tricky to find loose Rooibos so I was very happy to have found this delicious tea. Lovely comforting flavour with hints of vanilla. Nice strength and colour.
I drink rooibos tea on a daily basis so I need to buy this in decent quantities. My previous supplier ceased to provide 1kg packages so I found TeaCakes of Yorkshire as a new source. Tea strands are shorter than I have been used to and this seems to result in a quicker infusion. Lovely tea, well balanced, not too sweet or any overwhelming flavours. Would thoroughly recommend to anyone who has not tasted or has only used tea bags to date. Give it a try. My wife even has hers with milk! Not my cuppa tea but its your choice and its good for you. Ideal to use with Forlife Stump Infusion teapot or similar. Well done to TeaCakes of Yorkshire for stocking in this larger size.
Lovely red bush tea. In fact I'm drinking a cup right now. Order came on time with no fuss and very well packed. I would definitely recommend to anyone wishing to purchase this tea.
A unusual tasting tea but very nice
