Black Loose Leaf Tea Courtlodge Estate 10g Taster

£2.45

A renowned estate the "Champagne of Ceylon" one of our favourites! a light cup with an exquisitely rounded nature.

Courtlodge is in the Nuwara Eliya district of Sri Lanka and has consistently produced some of the best tea in Sri Lanka over the years.

Sri Lanka/ Nuwara Eliya

This masterpiece has just the right acidity and a sublime lively flavour, notes that have made “Ceylon” teas favoured the world over.
In February the north-west monsoons create a rain shadow effect on the western side of Nuwara Eliya (where Courtlodge is situated) resulting in peak seasonal quality during this time.

Sri Lanka is the largest single exporter of tea in the world. The country exports some 450 million pounds annually grown on half a million acres of land.
Until 1869 Sri Lanka was principally a coffee exporter but a coffee blight wiped out the island's coffee bushes. The area was replanted with tea by the British to serve to burgeon the tea market in Europe, Britain and the British colonies. During the late 1960's to early 1980's government ownership began to take its toll.
There was little re-investment in the upgrading of factories and maintenance of the bushes. As a result, by the end of the 80's, yield per acre had fallen dramatically.
Luckily this has not affected the quality of the high-altitude tea estates.

An outstanding example from this world-famous estate has a bright coppery colour and an impeccable flavour that lifts the spirit any time of day.

Delicous tea

I switch between the Blue Sapphire and this Courtlodge tea. I drink this one a bit stronger, but still black, and it is truly wonderful.
