Black Loose Leaf Tea Blue Sapphire 100g Flavoured

£8.35

Blue Sapphire

TGFOP is a shining example of the quality teas being produced on Kenya's top estates.

The flavour second to none exhibits a rounded lightly malted body with balanced touches of astringency and bakery notes.

In some remote corners of Africa, stories are still told of a great stone of undeniable beauty, it was once set in the Ephod or sacred garment of the ancient Israelite tribe of Issachar. This stone is mentioned in the Book of Exodus as the Sapir believed by many to be the root word of the English word sapphire.

As legend goes the stone went missing from the tribe, it was then smuggled out of Egypt and carried from one town to the next through jungles and deserts until finally finding a resting place somewhere in the lush hills of Kenya's Great Rift Valley
Unfortunately for local treasure hunters the exact whereabouts remain a mystery, some say it is protected by leopards others say by bolts of lightning that strike the ground whenever anyone comes near.

A visit to the Rift Valley would have you believe the lightning theory. The unique weather means the region is peppered by strikes regularly, with new nutrients and minerals deposited by the fires the tea bushes thrive.

The name of one of Kenya's most important tea-growing regions Tinderet translates into English as The Place of Lightning. Tinderet also happens to be home to some of the finest teas in Africa, (it is no coincidence). In tribute to the legend of the ancient stone, we offer a tea worthy of carrying the Sapphire name.
The tea is crisp and clean with a full bold body and mesmerising amber hue, as a means of representing the deep blue colour of the Sapphire,
cornflower petals are added to the perfectly graded leaf for visual appeal and an added neutral mellow character.

My favourite

Really lovely well rounded tea - the cornflowers add a lovely soft mellow flavour and looks pretty too! Ordering and delivery fast and easy. Good value for a specialist tea and love the caddy. Have purchased this tea twice now - I love trying new teas and this is my only second purchase ever!

African Blue Sapphire

Was taken aback to see the price escalation of Ceylon Blue Sapphire since I last bought it from a Teacakes competitor (and their minimum order quantity - 1 kg). So having shopped around found an African variant available in more reasonable sale quantities at hitherto unknown to me supplier Teacakes. So I bought some on spec.. to try it. I'm not a tea sommelier but couldn't taste any difference between the Ceylon and African. Anyway, Teacakes price is very good, their customer service extremely prompt, and advice re storage, etc. sound. The African is delicious. And I even received a free sample of another tea! I recommend them.
